Greetings from Brazil!

This is the first chance we are getting to update this blog. It has been a great adventure so far. The children are wonderful and it is a joy to show them Christ's love. Despite being in another country there are so many things that are universal and shared and communication really isn't so hard when the language is love.

Tuesday (Terca-Feirra) Update

From Diane: We had a fabulous weekend at Camp California with almost 50 kids. We are back in Sao Paulo...toured and learned about the favelas yesterday...then ate at the BBQ....yum. Today we did VBS for almost 150 kids (over 2 sessions) in one of the slums that is more of a high-rise project. Awesome time...heartbreaking stories...loving kids.....
Most impactful thing so far: One of the crafts at camp was to use play dough to make something that represented your dream. (Our theme is Dream Big). One girl made a house with a tree in the yard. She said it represented a house that she would like to give her mom. There are 9 of them living in two rooms.....heartbreaking.
Ok...wanna let others add to the blog now. More later. Keep praying...Love, Diane

Ready to go!!

God is so good! Our team will leave in just over 24 hours. We meet at Lakeside at 3:15 a.m. (ouch!) on Thursday morning for the drive to the San Francisco airport (thanks, Mike Slusher, for being willing to drive us....or just getting conned into it!)
Thanks for all the prayers that have gotten us this far. Bags are packed (well, I at least have all the stuff for ministry packed...I'll work on my own stuff tomorrow!).....Bible lessons are ready, games are planned, crafts are prepared, prizes and treats are stuffed in....including stuff to make s'mores around the campfire! (They don't have marshmallows in Brazil...isn't that sad!) And most important, the visas were processed. Now, we ARE still waiting for them to arrive by over-night Fed-Ex.....but God has been there through it all and will keep us in perfect peace (I gotta remember that and not be a worry wart!)
I'll look forward to updating this on the trip....tune in! Obrigada.

Four days to go!

Hello, this is Michelle, one of the trip participants. I am very excited about our upcoming adventure to Brazil. I have not been involved in a mission trip of this kind and feel blessed for the opportunity to do God's work in this way. All the planning is done and we are set to go June 12. Please pray for our team as we make this journey.
